Short Week!!!

This has been a very short week due to the snow day and the half day! Today we read an African Folk Tale called "Abiyoyo". After reading it, we learned about some African instruments and the kiddos got to play them!

No School Tomorrow

Hey families! I hope you all enjoyed your snow day! I just wanted to remind you that there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Wednesday due to a district half day. I look forward to seeing the kiddos on Thursday!

We have been learning about penguins this week!  The kiddos have learned all kinds of facts about penguins.  We learned they can't fly, but they can swim, they eat fish, there are different kinds of penguins, the daddy penguins take care of the eggs by holding them on their feet while the moms go fishing, and they live in Antartica.  We learned that Emperor penguins are 4 feet tall-we made a life size one to put on the wall and had the kiddos take their pictures next to it to compare how tall they are compared to an Emperor Penguin!

We also did a science experiment to learn how penguins and other arctic animals stay warm....blubber!  So we filled a bowl with ice and filled a bag with Crisco. The kids stuck their hand in a glove that was surrounded by the Crisco-or blubber. They got to see for themselves that blubber kept their hand warm in the ice!
